am I DOING ENOUGH?
As the days grow shorter and the year comes to a close, I’ve been reflecting on the highs and lows of what has been a truly eventful year. Naturally, my thoughts turn to sustainability—am I doing enough? I feel proud of the progress I’ve made in my personal style and wardrobe, but there’s always room to grow.
Sustainable Wins
Wardrobe Creativity: With the variety already in my wardrobe (and Gary’s shirts!), mixing and matching has been incredibly rewarding. Need help creating fresh looks from your wardrobe? Feel free to get in touch.
Playing with Layers! Please ignore the mess!!
Minimal New Purchases: This year, I only bought a Yes Friends t-shirt and a Sitting Suits puffer coat new, plus ethically sourced underwear from Wuka and Lemonade Dolls.
Eco-Friendly Habits: Composting in the community garden, carrying reusable bottles, and avoiding plastic bags have all become second nature.
Supporting Indie Brands: I’ve been intentional about buying some gifts from independent brands and have enjoyed being part of Aja Barber’s Patreon, a brilliant space for sustainable insights and activism. How and where we spend our money can be a powerful tool for change!
Areas for Improvement
My mum fixing my pleats
Sari Practice: My pleating practice has been slow as I’ve been intimidated by my six yards of fabric. Letting go of perfectionism is a priority for my sari journey.
Smarter Gifting: I want to stop relying on Amazon Prime for last-minute presents, especially for kids!! Next time, I’ll choose vouchers for local shops like News From Nowhere or check out my local social enterprise directory, such a useful resource I can’t wait to use more.
No-Buy Goals: My plan to only spend my Vinted balance on clothing didn’t quite hold up. In 2024, I’m committing to a no-buy clothes challenge, focusing instead on accessories. Need inspiration? I have a few different styling packages available that might be able to help you!
Sustainability isn’t about being perfect; it’s about progress. If you’re looking to make your wardrobe more eco-friendly while embracing your personal style, then drop me a message! I’d love to work with you in 2025.
What are your sustainability goals for next year? Let’s inspire each other!
